AI UGC Ads: Examples, Scripts and How to Make One
On this page

AI UGC means UGC-style ads, a person talking to camera about a product, made with AI instead of a hired creator. The presenter, the shots, or both are generated. It works well for testing hooks, explaining products and posting brand news. It must never show an AI person posing as a real customer. Below: a script formula, six example scripts, a shot list, the rules as of September 2026, and a how-to.

What is AI UGC?

UGC means user-generated content: videos and posts made by customers and creators, not the brand. A UGC ad is a paid ad that borrows that look. It is vertical, spoken in the first person, with big captions. It feels like a post, not a TV spot.

AI UGC keeps the format and replaces the filming. It usually mixes two things:

  • An AI presenter. A generated face speaks your line to camera.
  • AI product shots. Your real product photo is placed in new scenes, or animated into short clips.

Where AI UGC helps, and where it is wrong

Good uses:

  • Testing hooks. Make five openings for one product and see which holds viewers.
  • Product explainers. What it is and how it works, spoken as the brand.
  • Offers and restocks. A sale ends Friday, or a color is back.
  • Brand updates. Casual, to camera, speaking as "we".

Wrong uses:

  • Testimonials and reviews. An AI person saying "I've used this for three months" is a fake testimonial.
  • Before-and-after results. TikTok's ad policy bans before-and-after comparisons that distort a product's results.
  • Showing more than the product does. Start from your real product photo, so the clip shows what buyers get.
  • Real people's faces without permission. The FTC and TikTok both restrict this.

The rules for AI UGC ads (as of September 2026)

Each rule below comes from an official page. Outside the US? Check local rules too. This is not legal advice.

FTC rules in the United States

Fake testimonials are banned. The FTC's Rule on the Use of Consumer Reviews and Testimonials took effect on October 21, 2024. It covers reviews and testimonials that misrepresent that they come from someone who does not exist, or who never used the product. The FTC's announcement names AI-generated fake reviews as an example. Businesses may not create or sell them, or spread ones they know or should know are fake. Courts can impose civil penalties for knowing violations.

AI avatars are not banned. The FTC's Q&A says the rule has "no blanket prohibition on the use of AI-generated avatars in marketing." But an avatar can count as a testimonial. If that testimonial is fake, it breaks the rule. So does a celebrity avatar that seems to endorse a product without the celebrity's permission.

The Endorsement Guides. The FTC's Endorsement Guides, revised in 2023, add more:

  • An endorsement must reflect the endorser's honest opinion or experience.
  • If an ad says the endorser uses the product, they must really use it.
  • Ads that present people as "actual consumers" should use actual consumers, or clearly disclose that they are not.
  • An endorser now includes anything that only appears to be a person, so made-up endorsers count.

Disclose in picture and sound. The FTC's Endorsement Guides FAQ says a video that speaks and shows its message should also show and say the disclosure.

In plain terms: from an AI presenter, "Here is what our bottle does" is a brand message. "I've used this for six weeks" is a fake testimonial.

TikTok rules

  • Label realistic AI content. TikTok's AI-generated content page requires creators to label AI content with realistic images, audio or video. Turn on the "AI-generated content" setting before you post. TikTok may also auto-label files that carry Content Credentials (C2PA metadata), and that label cannot be removed.
  • Ads must disclose AI. TikTok's ad policy on misleading and false content (updated April 2026) allows AI ads with a label. Use the AIGC label, or your own clear disclaimer, caption, watermark or sticker. Undisclosed AI ads are rejected or restricted.
  • Use the disclaimer toggle. TikTok's ad disclaimers page makes the AI-generated media disclaimer mandatory. It shows at the bottom of the ad for its whole run.
  • No borrowed faces. No AI public figures making endorsements. No private adults without permission. No one under 18.

Meta rules (Facebook and Instagram)

  • Meta adds "AI info" labels. Meta's help page covers ad images made with Meta's AI tools or third-party AI tools. They get an "AI info" label in "About this ad", sometimes next to "Sponsored".
  • Third-party AI is being detected. In a June 1, 2026 update, Meta said it is starting to detect ads made with third-party AI tools.
  • Political ads must self-disclose. Meta's Business Help Center requires disclosure of AI media in social issue, election and political ads, such as a realistic person who does not exist. It describes no such step for product ads.

The AI UGC ad script formula

A UGC ad has five beats. In a 20 to 25 second ad, each beat is one short clip.

BeatSecondsIts job
Hook0 to 3Stop the scroll
Problem3 to 7Name the pain
Product in use7 to 14Show it working
Result14 to 19Say what changes
Call to action19 to 23One clear next step

Three habits keep it honest:

  1. Speak as the brand, never as a customer. Use "you", "we" and "this", not "I've been using".
  2. Keep lines short. Short lines land better on camera.
  3. Only claim what you can prove. Replace each [bracket] below with a fact from your own spec sheet.

For openings to test, see these hook sentence examples.

6 example AI UGC ad scripts

These are example scripts written for this guide. They are not real ads, real brands or real results. Words in [brackets] are placeholders for your own verified facts.

Example script 1: insulated water bottle (Casual)

  1. Hook: "Your water bottle should not be warm by lunch."
  2. Problem: "Ice melts, the water goes flat, and you stop drinking."
  3. Product in use: "This one has two steel walls with a vacuum between them." Shot: hands twist the lid, ice rattles.
  4. Result: "Fill it in the morning. It stays cold for [hours from your tests]."
  5. CTA: "Tap the link and pick your color."

Example script 2: soy candle (Luxury)

  1. Hook: "Close your eyes. This is what a slow Sunday smells like."
  2. Problem: "A candle should fill the room, not just the jar."
  3. Product in use: "Ours is poured by hand with [wax] and a cotton wick."
  4. Result: "Notes of [scent notes], for about [burn time] hours."
  5. CTA: "The full scent list is at the link."

Example script 3: chef's knife (Honest)

  1. Hook: "If your tomatoes squash when you slice them, blame the knife."
  2. Problem: "A dull edge crushes the skin before it cuts."
  3. Product in use: "This is our [length] chef's knife in [steel type]." Shot: one clean pass through a tomato.
  4. Result: "It arrives sharp and holds its edge for [your tested claim]."
  5. CTA: "Link below. It ships in a gift box."

Example script 4: spill-proof dog bowl (Funny)

  1. Hook: "Quick question. Why is the kitchen floor wet again?"
  2. Problem: "Big dogs drink like they are bobbing for apples."
  3. Product in use: "This bowl has a floating disc, so only a little water comes up at a time." Shot: a dog drinking, the floor dry.
  4. Result: "Less splash, and it holds [capacity], so you refill less."
  5. CTA: "Pick a size for your dog at the link."

Example script 5: app update in founder style (Casual)

  1. Hook: "You asked for it, so we built it."
  2. Problem: "Chasing late invoices was your top request."
  3. Product in use: "Now [App] sends a polite reminder [number] days before the due date." Shot: a phone buzzing on a desk.
  4. Result: "Set it once. No more awkward emails."
  5. CTA: "Update the app and switch it on in Settings."

If the face is AI-generated, it should not say "I'm the founder". Film the real founder, or use their photo with consent and label the clip as AI.

Example script 6: coffee subscription (Hyped)

  1. Hook: "When was your coffee roasted? Go on, check the bag."
  2. Problem: "No date on the bag means no idea how fresh it is."
  3. Product in use: "We roast on [day] and print the date on every bag."
  4. Result: "Fresh beans at your door every [interval]."
  5. CTA: "Pick your roast and schedule at the link. Pause anytime."

How to make an AI UGC ad with FrameSurfer

Step 1: Write the script with the free UGC ad generator

Open the free UGC ad script generator. It needs no account. Describe the product in up to 300 characters, add an audience if you like, and pick a tone: Casual, Hyped, Honest, Funny or Luxury.

You get a hook for the first three seconds, a shot list of usually 4 to 6 scenes, and a call to action. Each scene has the shot, the line and a caption.

Then click Turn this into a video. The product, audience, tone, hook and call to action go into FrameSurfer's prompt box. The scene list does not carry over, so keep a copy. This step needs sign-in.

Step 2: Make a presenter with Character Portrait

Character Portrait turns a written description into one clear, front-facing portrait, in 9:16, 1:1 or 16:9. Name the age, face, hair, clothing and setting. Details keep the face consistent across clips.

AI-generated portrait of a smiling chef with short dark hair in a white chef coat Made with FrameSurfer's Character Portrait tool from a written description. She is an AI-generated person, not a real customer.

AI-generated portrait of a young man with round glasses and a navy knit sweater Made with the same tool from a written description. He is an AI-generated person, not a real customer or founder.

Step 3: Give them a line with Talking Character

Talking Character takes a face and a written line and returns a clip of them saying it. Use a saved character or one clear front-facing photo.

  • One beat per clip. Then a new hook is one new clip.
  • Pick length and shape. Grok Imagine, the default model, goes up to 15 seconds at 720p. Alibaba Wan 3 goes up to 30 seconds. Choose 9:16, 1:1 or 16:9.
  • Sound is per clip. Generated audio can be on or off.
  • Product Photo: upload one clear product photo and describe a scene. The product stays recognizable. Add "keep the product and label exactly as they are".
  • Image to Video: your still becomes the first frame of a clip. Describe the motion, not the look, such as a slow orbit.
  • A product link: Shopify product to video reads the title, price, variants, description and photos. Its default shape is a hook in the first two seconds, the product, then a call to action. Amazon product to video works from the title, bullets and image set.

Step 5: Label and check before you post

  • Put "AI presenter" on screen, and turn on TikTok's AI label or ad disclaimer.
  • Read each claim out loud. Can you prove it?
  • Check that no line implies the presenter is a customer.

Writing prompts needs no account. Generating runs paid models, so it needs a FrameSurfer plan. Under FrameSurfer's terms, you own what you create and can use it commercially.

Start with the script

The script decides whether an AI UGC ad works. Put your product into the free UGC ad script generator and get a hook, shot list and call to action to test.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is AI UGC?

AI UGC is user-generated-style content, like a person talking to camera about a product, made with an AI presenter or AI shots.

In the US, the FTC says there is no blanket ban on AI avatars in marketing, as of September 2026. Fake testimonials are banned, such as an AI person presented as a real customer.

Do I have to label AI UGC ads on TikTok?

Yes. As of September 2026, TikTok's ad policy requires the AIGC label or your own clear disclaimer. Undisclosed AI ads can be rejected or restricted.

Does Meta label AI-generated ads?

Yes. Meta adds "AI info" labels to ads made with its own AI tools and is starting to detect third-party AI tools. Political and social issue ads also need advertiser disclosure.
